Accessibility Statement

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is committed to making our information and communication technology (ICT), including our websites, accessible to individuals with disabilities by meeting or exceeding the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Section 508). 29 U.S.C. 794d.

Under Section 508, we are required to provide individuals with disabilities access to ICT comparable to those who do not have disabilities, unless an undue burden would be imposed on us. To meet this commitment, our websites are designed to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.0, Level A and Level AA success criteria and conformance requirements. More information on Section 508 and the technical standards can be found on Section508.gov.

Filing an EEO Complaint

If you are an OPM employee and believe you have been discriminated against on the basis of disability, contact the OPM Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) office at EEO@opm.gov or (202) 606-2460 within 45 days of the matter alleged to be discriminatory. If your complaint is about a personnel action, then count from the effective date of the action. The EEO office will walk you through the process of filing an informal complaint, which can be followed with a formal complaint. You can learn more about the EEO complaint process from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

Reasonable Accommodations

Federal agencies are required by law to provide reasonable accommodation to qualified employees with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations can apply to the duties of the job and/or where and how job tasks are performed. The accommodation should make it easier for the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Examples of reasonable accommodations include providing interpreters, readers, or other personal assistance; modifying job duties; restructuring work sites; providing flexible work schedules or work sites (i.e. telework) and providing accessible technology or other workplace adaptive equipment. If you are an OPM employee seeking a reasonable accommodation, please contact OPM Human Resources at RA@opm.gov or your supervisor.

OPM posts its job announcements on USAJOBS.gov. Each announcement includes contact information for a human resources specialist. These specialists can assist in meeting reasonable accommodations requests. If the application process includes a USA Hire Competency Based Assessment, you will find reasonable accommodations information for the assessment in the “additional information” section of the job announcement. Applicants for OPM-specific jobs may also contact the OPM’s Selective Placement Program Coordinator (SPPC) at SelectivePlacementProgram-OPMHR@opm.gov for assistance.
